II. Organizational Context and Scope

 

Under the direct supervision of the Programme Assistant and under overall supervision of Chief of Mission, the Incumbent supports 'Counter Trafficking' Project in Uzbekistan, implemented by IOM Central Asia with donor funding from the United States Agency for International Development - USAID, by assisting in implementation of project activities in the country and performs the following functions.

 

III. Responsibilities and Accountabilities

 

 

  • Assists in project planning and implementation, with a focus on achieving tangible and sustainable results;
  • Contributes to monitoring, oversight and support of timely implementation of the project; assists in arranging project filing, storing and keeping track of project inventories and supplies, in line with respective IOM rules and procedures;
  • Provides administrative and logistics assistance to planning, arranging and holding project events (seminars, conferences, trainings, presentations);
  • Assists the Mission in fundraising activities, including monitoring of available new project calls from donors and assists in drafting project concept notes and proposals;
  • Assists in ensuring the budgetary implementation of the project jointly and in close coordination with respective administrative and finance staff;
  • Provides support to procurement activities within the project, in line with IOM rules and procedures;
  • Assists in coordinating project activities implemented by hired project consultants, ensuring due monitoring over delivery of outputs by those consultants;
  • Provides support to management of travel arrangements and preparation of relevant documents, when required;
  • Assists in coordinating the project activities linked to sub-grants to conduct counter-trafficking info-campaigns by partner-NGOs; arranges and maintains due reporting in this regard;
  • Keeps track of amendments in the national legislation of Uzbekistan and those of main destinaiton countries, related to migration governance, countering human trafficking, protection of the rights of migrants.
  • Provides timely and due translation/interpretations services (Uzbek, English, Russian), when required;
  • Asists in drafting Press Briefing Notes (PBN), when required;
  • Undertakes press monitoring and press clipping of relevant press information;
  • Undertakes document inflow/outflow registry;
  • Other tasks within the incumbent’s capacity, which might be assigned by the supervising person.

V. Education and Experience

 

a)    University degree (preferably in Law, Public Administration, Politics, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, and/or International Relations);

b)    Knowledge of migration related trends (including, but not limited to, counter-trafficking) processes in Uzbekistan/Central Asia is a strong asset;

c)    Previous experience of work within international organization is an asset;

d)    Experience in project implementation is highly desirable.
